Playlist Thursday: I wanna rock!

It’s that time of the week again. Time to link up with Pavement Runner. This is an awesome link up I always try to partake in because I get to see songs that I might not have otherwise heard of and I always end up adding at least one song to my running playlist. Make sure you head over to Pavement Runner to check out everyone else who contributed this week.

Today’s theme is: Rock. I am hoping to throw in a few different types of rock for you today.

Artist: Aerosmith
Title: Love In An Elevator
Side Note: Bean Town represent. I love a lot of classic rock. This particular category was hard as I had about 5 different songs I wanted to choose. My sister and I used to love this song and sing it at the top of our lungs.
Quotable: Jacki’s in the elevator. Lingerie second floor. She said ‘Can I see you later. And love you just a little more?. I kinda hope we get stuck. nobody gets out alive. She said ‘I’ll show ya how to fax in the mailroom honey. and have you home by five’

Artist: Anberlin
Title: Self Starter
Side Note: This is from there newest album, there is no real video, but I love this song.
Quotable: Last night rolled over beside my bed. That sort of madness, could leave one dead. Our eyes deceive, we were on fire. Mistook you for love and love desire. I still can’t feel nothing just want to hold something. Tell me again what’s real, tell me again what to feel

Artist: Queen
Title: Killer Queen
Side Note: I could of gone with the typical Queen song for this, but I decided to pick one that is more well known but not your go-to Queen song. The song has enough lulls and pick ups that my pace increases, but not too much that I burn myself out. And FYI Freddie Mercury RIP what a talent, I wish, I had been older when he was alive, there has been no other musician with his vocal range.
Quotable: She’s a Killer Queen. Gunpowder, gelatine. Dynamite with a laser beam. Guaranteed to blow your mind. Anytime

Playlist Thursday: Innuendos

I am linking up with Pavement Runner today. I LOVE his music posts, mostly because I am always looking for new running songs to add to my playlist, but because of the format of his posts.

Today’s theme is: Innuendo. Not talking about what the song means, just songs that clearly mean something more than what the song is on a surface level.

Artist: Aerosmith

Title: Walk This Way

Side Note: I like the version with RUN DMC, but I went for the classic for you all today. This song is more than just about a high school dance…but then again what Aerosmith song doesn’t have some sort of innuendo?

Quotable: I was a high school loser, never made it with a lady. Till the boys told me somethin’ I missed. Then my next door neighbor with a daughter had a favor. So I gave her just a little kiss. Like this!

Artist: Flo Rida

Title: Whistle

Side Note: Um, this song is so dirty and yet so catchy.

Quotable:Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby. Let me know. Girl I’m gonna show you how to do it. And we start real slow.

Artist: Brand New

Title: Sic Transit Gloria…Glory Fades

Side Note: I used to listen to Brand New a ton when I was in college, and I still do on occasion. This was one of my favorite songs. I always thought that this song was about preserving your innocence…and I guess in a sense it is.

Quotable: He is the lamb, she is the slaughter.
She’s moving way too fast and all he wanted was to hold her. Nothing that he tells her is really having an effect.

What do you think these songs are about?

Playlist Thursday: Local Artists

I am linking up with Pavement Runner today. I LOVE his music posts, mostly because I am always looking for new running songs to add to my playlist, but because of the format of his posts.

Something Old: Songs that are at least 5 years old.

Something Current: Songs that have been released within the past year.

Something to Consider: Songs that are not typically heard on the radio and may be by artists you’ve never heard of or considered running to.

Today’s theme is: Local artists. I am going to stick to the Boston sector for this one, but you can pick artists from your state if that’s easier. I already included NKOTB, Mark Wahlberg and LFO in previous posts (all Boston natives) so I will spare you this time!

Artist: Aerosmith

Title: Love In An Elevator

Side Note: Who doesn’t love Aerosmith. Also I definitely suggest reading Steven Tyler’s autobiography, crazy stuff, it is a miracle the man is still alive. I also got to meet him once, but I was 8 and had no idea who he was. This song was also my sister & I’s favorite!

Quotable: Gotta get my timin’ right. It’s a test that I got to pass. I’ll chase you all the way to the stairway, honey. Kiss your sassafras

Artist: Matt Nathanson

Title: Mercy

Side Note:I have loved Matt Nathanson since the late 90’s and actually got to meet him when he & Howie Day opened for Guster back in 2004. I am glad he is starting to get popular, his music is amazing. Oh and that concert, we were definitely only there to see Matt & Howie.

Quotable: “its in the click click click. Of the camera flash. Its in the definite kick up in the fame ball blast. But they don’t call and they don’t last. And you’re gone. Outshine”

Artist: Dispatch

Title: Here We Go

Side Note: Dispatch was an amazing band from the 90s, we saw their last show at Madison Square Garden in 2007! Amazing. We just found out that they recorded and released that show.

Quotable: Bottoms up boys this is the last call. Happy hour doesn’t last too long. You know it never does
