30 Day Song Challenge: Day 14

I have seen this song challenge on many other blogs or facebook and twitter. The idea is to share a tiny bit of yourself by choosing a song.

The fourteenth day is a song that no one would expect you to love.

I think my tastes in music spread most genre’s, but I love rap. I think maybe that’s the most unexpected. Not only do I love rap, I love to rap. My husband loves it even more.

What song or genre do you like that is unexpected?

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 13

I have seen this song challenge on many other blogs or facebook and twitter. The idea is to share a tiny bit of yourself by choosing a song. The idea is to choose a song every day, but for the purpose of the blog I am going to choose once a week.

The thirteenth day is a song that is a guilty pleasure.

I wouldn’t necessarily quantify this as a guilty pleasure because I have no shame in my love for boy bands, but others might.

So here is two for you.

Don’t Turn Out the Lights – NKOTBSB

and Gone by Nsync

Who’s your favorite boy band? I do love them all!

Wordless Wednesday: Dessert

My mother-in-law and I made part of our Thanksgiving desserts last night. I forgot to take pictures, because it was late and I was exhausted.

I took some this morning, so please forgive me as they aren’t the best pictures.

This one is in the fridge so I will take a better photo on game day :)

What are you making or eating for Thanksgiving dessert?

4 Months, an update

I have been 4 months old for awhile now, but I just had my check-up.

I weighed in at 15 lbs 5 oz (50th percentile) and I am 26 inches tall (80th percentile). Mom says I’m lanky like a string bean. I’m even wearing, depending on the brand, anywhere from 6 – 9 month clothes and even some 12 month clothes.

The doctor said I could start cereal!

First I had to check out my new seat.

Then I had cereal for the first time.

Good news, I dig it.

This month we had our first ear infection, it stunk.

We figured out that when Daddy shows me his iPad, and Daddy puts it on garage band, that I can play music.

I also love listening to guitar with daddy and reading with mommy.

I have yet to roll over yet, but I am pretty close.

I also still prefer mom & dad’s room to mine and have only given them one night of solid sleep while I was in my crib.

I can’t wait for my first Thanksgiving!

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 12

I have seen this song challenge on many other blogs or facebook and twitter. The idea is to share a tiny bit of yourself by choosing a song. The idea is to choose a song every day, but for the purpose of the blog I am going to choose once a week.

The twelfth day is a song from a band that you hate.

I don’t hate a lot of bands, but I get sick of a lot of songs that are played on the radio constantly. Especially, Rihanna and Ke$ha.

Today’s song is Umbrella by Rihanna. Plus I think that the songs that Rihanna and Ke$ha sing are terrible in terms of their influence on young girls.

What’s a band you dislike?

30 Day Song Challenge: Day 11

I have seen this song challenge on many other blogs or facebook and twitter. The idea is to share a tiny bit of yourself by choosing a song. The idea is to choose a song every day, but for the purpose of the blog I am going to choose once a week.

WOW I’ve totally slacked on this. I am going to update daily now to wrap this up!

The eleventh day is a song from your favorite band.

I have many favorite bands. This song is Time and Confusion by Anberlin, check it out.

Who’s your favorite band?

Five Things Friday

Five Things Friday is back! I know you were all waiting with baited breath.

My mother-in-law always makes a fabulous spread for the Thanksgiving meal, but she would always buy pies. The proceeds went to the school band, so no big deal. Now that the hubs and I only go to Thanksgiving in one place I have started making dessert. 1. Because I love too 2. Because I enjoy when others love my food and 3. Because Thanksgiving is about sharing.

Five Desserts that I may make for Thanksgiving.

Input wanted.

1. Apple Cobbler. My hubs uncle has been harassing his wife because she has never made a true cobbler. Perhaps this is the year where I actually make one instead of saying I will? If you have a great recipe send it my way.

2. Red Velvet Cheesecake. Hands down my favorite dessert.

3. Pumpkin Pie or Pumpkin Cheesecake… or both?

4. Pecan Pie. I love Pecan Pie, I only eat it at Thanksgiving. Last year my sister and I made pecan pie bars. FAIL.

5. Apple Pie. The hubs loves my homemade pie, so I think this is a must have.

What are your favorite Thanksgiving desserts? What do you think I should make?

Slow Cooker Chili

This isn’t a pinterest recipe, but one I make a lot. I will get back to the pinterest recipes asap, I have many for Thanksgiving.

Fall and Winter are perfect for using your crock pot/slow cooker. I think for the past 5 years I have made this one recipe for my husband and I at least twice a month during the cold season.

For ingredients you need:
1 medium onion
A few cloves of garlic, I use about 5 or 6, but it’s up to you
1.5 lbs of ground turkey, you can use beef, we just prefer turkey.
1 can of each bean: black, kidney, cannelini
1 can of corn, not sweetened or creamed, or a small frozeen bag
1 small can of tomato sauce (not the 8 oz can, the 6 or 4 oz)
Shredded Cheese, I use Whole Foods, cheddar jack mix
Chili seasoning
Spices to season the meat.

I finely chop the onion and garlic, throw them in a pan to brown, then I toss in the turkey. I season with salt, pepper and chili seasoning.

I throw the tomato sauce, beans and corn in the crock pot and stir.

IMG 0279

Then I add the cheese and the chili seasoning packet and stir again.

IMG 0285

Once the meat is cooked, I drain the liquid and throw it in the crock pot as well. I mix the meat with everything else, until it seems evenly mixed.

You can cook it for 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low.

Enjoy!
