Babymoon Part 1

Nick and I went away a few weekends ago to have our last getaway just the two of us before the craziness of summer and before baby b joins our world. I didn’t take pictures, mostly because I just wanted to relax and spend some time with my hubby. I do, however, want to recap what we did while we were away.

We left Friday afternoon and took a leisurely drive to Kittery, Maine. We went to the outlets, we mostly browsed, but I convinced Nick to buy these ADORABLE sneakers because they match one of our baby outfits and they were $4.50.

Quite the steal, if I do say so.

We hit up a few more stores, then we drove a few miles to a restaurant we found on yelp, Hebert Brothers Seafood. It was an order at the counter type of joint, but it was outstanding. I had the shrimp and fries platter and Nick originally ordered the crab roll with onion rings. The owner came to our table after we ordered and told us that he thought he had crab but had ran out, so Nick had shrimp instead. The platters came with coleslaw as well. Everything was made to order and was absolutely delicious. Nick had almost finished his platter when the owner came back, he found the crab and gave Nick a crab roll. If you are in the area, I definitely recommend this place, and definitely get the onion rings, they were some of the best I have ever had.

After lunch we headed straight to Portland and checked into our hotel, we relaxed for a little while and then we got ready for dinner at Street & Company. THe restaurant was nice and featured a daily menu, but the tables were on top of each other and I literally had to yell in order for Nick to hear me. For our meals we both started with the mustard greens that had a vinaigrette, croutons and bacon. Nick’s meal was Linguini with clams in a white sauce, they serve the meal to you in the pan they cook in, Nick said it was too salty. I had a hard time finding a seafood that I could eat, so I ended up with the broiled sole that came with green beans and roasted potatoes. While it was good, I could get this meal anywhere. The standouts of this meal were our desserts. Nick had the blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream and I had the chocolate flour-less cake with raspberry sauce. I didn’t have a bite of Nick’s since I am not a fan of blueberries, but we both agreed our desserts were the best part of the entire meal.

After dinner we headed back to the hotel and just relaxed watching sports.

Part 2 coming soon!

Today’s Question: What is your favorite kind of seafood?

  1. Sounds like fun! Those shoes are cute! We spent a weekend in Portland for our anniversary one year-fun time! I'm not really a seafood eater-I guess fish and chips are my favorite-you know, real healthy :)

  2. Dawn – I love the shoes, completely impractical, but at $4.50 impractical is totally fine! And fish and chips are totally yummy :) regardless of health factor!
